Multi-Modal Unit Project:
Fahrenheit 451
Due by end of day May 1st - Presentation May 2nd
You will craft a multi-genre/multi-modal project demonstrating your understanding of the plot, characters, setting, and themes of Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 that we’ve worked on.
A multi-genre/multi-modal project is a collection of pieces (in this case, four pieces) written in a variety of genres (poetry, essay, narrative fiction, etc) and modes (text, audio, visual, etc). A multi-modal project is personal, creative, unique. It involves you, as a writer/creator, making conscious decisions about what information is important and how it should be presented to the reader. They involve a combination of expository and creative writing and includes visual and/or audio creations. The collection of artifacts presents an argument or stance about your selected topic, much as a traditional essay would.
Essentially, you can choose almost any form of expression to be a part of your multi-modal project. Different genres serve different purposes, different voices, and different audiences. A mixture of genres can provide multiple perspectives on a single topic.
Your project must include four (4) different Artifacts
Focus on variety: All four of your artifacts must be different genres.
At least one of your artifacts must be text-based – prose essay, poem, narrative fiction, scene for a script, etc.
At least one of your artifacts must be non-text-based: graphical, video, or audio – podcast, illustration, video scene, etc.
Suggested Options
Storyboards - The week before spring break, you completed two storyboard frames having to do with the first 30 pages. You may complete a third and submit the three-frame storyboard as an artifact. Make sure to have color and a caption.
Found Poem - On April 19-20, you completed a found poem in your notebook, composed of phrases from the text arranged to make poetry. You may revise this and submit it as an artifact.
Illustration - On April 24, you composed a notebook entry having to do with the end of the world. If you chose to create a picture for this entry, you may expand upon it with detail and colored pencils to create an artifact. Make sure to have color and a caption.
