I joined the NAF engineering academy as a freshman. I have always been interested in engineering and I am really enjoying this experience so far. I have been able to work on many projects and creations, including a homemade wind turbine, a CO2 car. We also got to build our own circuits where things lit up or made annoying high pitched sounds. I can't wait to see what other cool projects we do in the future.
I joined this club because I wanted to learn more about my Filipino culture. We did lots of fun things at the meetings, including Kahoots and some games. We also got to try Lumpia, which is the Filipino version of fried spring rolls. It was really cool to learn more about the Philippines and the traditions that they have.
At the beginning of my freshman year at John Burroughs, I didn't know what extra curricular I wanted to do. I tried out for basketball but I didn't make it. That didn't stop me from trying out more things. Volleyball tryouts happened and I made the team. I found out that I really enjoy volleyball just like my three older cousins. I have met so many new friends my age and also upperclassmen friends. Communication is key in this sport so I have learned to communicate well with my teammates and coaches. Trying out turned out to be one of the most beneficial and fun things I have done.
