Nathan Gingrich

musician, artist, educator

Born and raised in British Columbia, Nathan Gingrich received his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Regina.

He continued to study trombone and he received his "Aufbaustudium A" Advanced Artist's Diploma from the FRANZ LIZST Hochschule fur Musik in Weimar, Germany before pursuing a performance degree in jazz and pop trombone.

After 7 years of studies, freelance work and teaching in Europe, Nathan returned to Canada and settled in Calgary to start teaching at Thomas B Riley School with the Calgary Board of Education in 2006.

In 2009 Nathan began teaching at William Aberhart High School.

Since residing in Calgary, Nathan has performed with all of the professional brass ensembles, jazz bands and numerous pop/soul bands in town as well as various project groups!

He is the co-ordinator of the annual "Holiday Tubafest" and "Slide Into Spring: Calgary's Trombone Day to celebrate International Trombone Week" community music events.

Involved with many musical organizations, Nathan strives to connect people and music and is proud to be a director with Westwinds Music Society, on the board of the Calgary Association for the Development of Music Education (CADME), a member of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity (Mu Alpha Chapter)  and be involved with music in the wider community through performance and education.

Nathan is a Conn-Selmer artist and clinician.
