If I told you that I enjoy laying around and doing nothing, I would be lying to you. Since I was born, I have been running around getting in trouble, helping dad, or watching out for my two younger brothers Connor and Logan. Even though I was only two at the time Connor was born, mom and dad had me running around grabbing diapers and bibs, trying to fill sippy cups, or even grabbing a snack for Connor and me.
While Connor being a baby and I being two, the tasks I was assigned have helped me to be who I am today. Those tasks, even though they were really small, has helped me to take control and be a leader. In high school, I played football and threw the shot put and discus in track and field. I started playing football in third grade and was instantly in love with the sport after the first hit. Many moons later, I was playing on Friday nights in front of the home crowd motivating my teammates and making plays. My senior year I was nominated as a captain for the team and that gave me a leadership to work hard every play but also motivate everyone from a freshman to a senior on the team. This task really helped me to become a leader because I had to show energy to help give others energy, and when a team has energy, good things happen.
My love for track and field is a little different story on the other hand. When I first started throwing in sixth grade, I was very upset about how it was going. My competitive nature made me strive for placing at meets and that was not happening. Then one day at practice I told my coach, my mom, that she knew what she was doing, and I finally listened, and it all took off. I started placing at meets, and my love for throwing started growing and is still growing to this date. I know I’m not the best thrower out there, but at practice, I always try to help someone if they are struggling or need some help. Helping my peers has not only given me confidence in what I do because I see my tips help them out giving them confidence at the same time.
Throwing the shot put and discus has given me the ability to get my name out and give me a chance for a scholarship. At the moment, I am talking to Highland Community College about throwing the shot put and discus on scholarship. From what I have been told right now, I will be getting offered books and tuition to go throw which is highly swaying my choice to study there along with having the ability to go throw in college.
For my future studies and career, I have not fully decided on what I want to do because I enjoy getting my hands dirty but at the same time I love learning about vehicles and telling people about all the niches of car that makes it special. Whether I decide to become a mechanic or a salesman, I plan to be my own boss in the future. If I become a mechanic, I plan to open my own shop and build custom vehicles and offer detailing and paint correction services. If I become a salesman, I want to work my way up in the ranks and take over and become the head sales representative and eventually run the dealership myself. I have my dreams set high and when I figure out what I really want to, I’m going to be running down a dream and become my own boss.
