Nate Betts is a native of Lancaster, Ohio. He currently studies under Dr. Julie Licata at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. At Capital, Nate has performed on and off campus in the Columbus area and around Ohio as a member of the Symphonic Winds (including as Principal Percussionist), Wind Symphony (as Principal Percussionist), Lab (Jazz) Band, and Concert Percussion Ensemble. As a member of the Capital University Percussion Studio Work Study team, Nate regularly completes instrument repair and maintenance, oversees organization and inventory of Percussion equipment, designs promotional material for Percussion performances, and manages the Studio's social media pages.
As a music arranger, Nate has arranged for the Capital University Concert Percussion Ensemble, Westerville Central High School Marching Band Percussion Section, Lancaster High School Chamber Singers, and the Lancaster High School "Swinging Gales."
Nate is a graduate of Lancaster High School, where he spent much of his time involved in the Marching Band of Gold, “Swinging Gales” Jazz Band, Pep Band, Concert Bands, Chamber Singers, Men's Ensemble, and the internationally recognized Lancaster High School Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Bruce Gerken. During his time as a Lancaster City Schools Instrumental and Choral music student, Nate received instruction from Mr. Bruce Gerken, Mr. Shaun Schuetz, Mr. Benjamin Factor, Mr. Jared Smith, Mrs. Sandra McCoy, and Mr. Clarence McCoy.
As an educator, Mr. Betts presently serves as Percussion Instructor for the Westerville Central High School Marching Band, as well as Percussion Coach for the Capital University Cadet Band. He has also been involved with the Capital University Winds and Percussion Camp. Mr. Betts teaches Percussion private lessons in Central Ohio.
