Environmental Design || Set Dressing || Virtual Production || Sci-fi
Environment designed for a current Honours film project with Virtual Production, put together over the course of a month.
Role: Environment Designer Program used: Unreal Engine.
Drift is a 2025 Honours project for a film student, where I worked on the Unreal Engine set dressing, level design, and environmental design for the Virtual Production set. This short film follows a man stranded on a space station, completely alone, trying to grow plants in his clinically bright and isolated station as he drifts through space.
Although most of my work has been rooted in more grounded genres, I have interest in and understanding of how the sci-fi genre works in terms of set dressing and environmental design. I also am working closely with the rest of the team to ensure this environment assists in telling the story and elevates the script rather than distracting from it.
As I worked on this project, the interative process was one I found great satisfaction in. Figuring out a design brief and goals for the scene, things that needed to happen and the atmosphere the director wanted to create, and moving through stages of feedback.
