I am taking Technology in Education class and my assignment was to create a flipped classroom. A flipped classroom is the student is at home and as the typical route they would do the homework at home. This way is that they have the lecture at home to view via video and then when they are in the class they can do the homework or any activity. It's a great way to teach if you have a every diverse class. The student can learn on their own time by slowing it down or pausing to finish up notes. Then when the class is in session the teacher can work with students who are struggling or practice and get the students more engaged to help with understanding through discussion peers, problem-solving activities, and critical thinking. It can also be beneficial with seeing the process on how the class is moving forward. As I was working on this project I was thinking of Standard 5: "Standard 5O) Models and facilitates effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning." This is because I was teaching American Sign Language. I used technology to teach my lesson over the camera. The students used me as a model and had to teach it themselves and try their very best to remember the words to use for the outside word. When they learn the words they have to use hands and whole body to create the words that register to the brain. Another Performance Indicator that was used was 5N, "uses technology to accomplish differentiated instructional objectives that enhance learning for each student." I used Zoom to record myself with a video so you can see me and my Google Slide presentation, I also used Youtube to post my video and upload it to this page and then Google Forms for a quiz related to my video. I enjoyed this project because as we know it, all schools can be taught online or flipped. I am teaching some students for an after school program on basic sign language so I wanted to use my passion for Asl and spread it with more future teachers. This way of teaching can be time consuming but worth it to cut down the time in the classroom environment. I will be looking forward to using this way as I become a teacher.
