Falcons Fly - Boys Basketball Vs. South Kingstown
As someone who aspires to go into the realm of Sports Media, I find the action of being on the sideline shooting for highlights and getting interviews and stats is exciting. However, we were on a time crunch to get the perfect shots and interviews as we were left with a dying camera which made for a stressful shoot. We were able to make it work with a quick camera switch and captured all of the best moments during the game. I wrote, reported, and edited this story, and even with a few bumps in the producing process, we were able to create a very positive story on a tough loss for our team.
West Watch News 12.15.25
Although the West Watch News is a weekly broadcast story that we put out every Monday, this particular broadcast was very different. The Friday before, our state suffered an immense tragedy after a mass shooting occurred at Brown University killing 2 student, marking the first school shooting in our state's history. I only had 30 minutes to write the script and less than 20 minutes to set up all the equipment and film in one take. Me and my co-anchor were able to pull it together to deliver not just a weekly news story, but a respectful and needed acknowledgment of timely news.
Alumni and Mrs. RI Winner Janet Iacobucci
Doing an alumni story is always such an amazing experience because you get to see firsthand how the school you are at now has shaped the successful person you are interviewing. For this story I took a behind the camera approach and filmed, and wrote the script for the story. Usually it is very easy to choose sound bites from certain interviews, however Mrs. Iacobucci had so many amazing stories and tidbits to tell, that I couldn't just choose one portion of her accomplishments to talk about. So instead I centered this story around all of the amazing things she has done as a pageant queen, Doula, and mother, which she all attributed to her alma mater.
Is Our First Amendment Safe?
This story was one of the hardest topics I have ever had to cover. After Charlie Kirk -- the political conservative activist-- was shot, there was a lot of discussion surrounding the event, which lead to my media advisor purposing a story about the assassination. I was able to take interviews and opinions from students involved in political clubs at my school and create an editorial that was unbiased and covered the facts of the events as well as the reactions from students at my school. I was able to not only be an on camera reporter for this story, but I was also a writer and editor for this broadcast segment as well. I fully realized after covering this event, that remaining unbiased in journalism is one of the most important ethics included in the process.
West Watch News 11.3.25
Our school was going through a major change this year with one of our assistant principals leaving the school district. With West Watch covering all weekly news updates I thought it would be the best time to have our new assistant principal come on our broadcast for a quick interview so students in our school could hear about his goals future plans for this school year. I wrote the script and was a reporter for this news broadcast.
2024-2025
Unified Volleyball Live Broadcast
This was one of the very first interviews I conducted in a live setting. Our school has an amazing community and culture which is highlighted at all of our Unified games. The is Unified Sports program is an inclusive Special Olympics program that pairs students with and without intellectual disabilities on the same sports teams to train and compete together. So many students came out to see our rival teams come together and compete and I had the chance to interview and talk with the coaches, players, and heads of both the school and district.
