The Unraveling
A collaborative dance project between Chicago based writer and movement artist Emily Loar and Co- Artistic Directors Natalia Alarcón and Katrina Soricelli from Engram Dance Project. Sponsored by Harwood-Watson Dance Studios, The Unraveling premiered during the year of the pandemic as a response to the feelings of fear and uncertainty; as as a necessity to reconnect with others, and to reassert dance as a powerful and essential artform in our community. A fluid process that was simultaneously influenced by both writing and movement, The Unraveling is a one of a kind, immersive experience that allows the audience to engage in a more intimate way, as they follow the story of SHE throughout 4 different locations in downtown Orlando.
She looks down at her body, somehow no worse for the wear. It’s still there.
She places a hand on her chest, and finds a heart still beating. It’s still there.
She looks to the sky. It’s still there. And it’s beautiful.
“Who needs plans when the sky is still there?” she says, to no one in particular.
