Natalia lauk, DMA

Dr. Natalia Lauk, a seasoned performer, has a career spanning over 30 years that began in her native Siberia, Russia. From starting piano lessons at age four, she has cultivated a broad repertoire as a soloist, collaborative pianist, chamber artist, and conductor. Natalia holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance and Instrumental Conducting from the University of Utah, and a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance, Piano Pedagogy, and Collaborative Piano from the Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Arts.

Her repertoire includes major works such as Beethoven’s 5th Piano Concerto, Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto, Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” Liszt’s B minor Sonata, and Brahms’s 2nd Sonata, alongside the last sonatas of Beethoven, Scriabin, and Prokofiev. Natalia has appeared as a soloist with the Glacier Symphony, Idaho State Civic Symphony, and Idaho State University Concert Band, and has collaborated extensively with the ISU Concert and Chamber Choirs.

As a conductor, she worked with the University of Utah Campus Symphony, Salt Lake Symphony, and University of Utah Philharmonia. Her scholarly pursuits are dedicated to injury prevention and enhancing efficiency in piano playing. Dr. Lauk has translated "On the Development of Piano Skills" by A.A. Schmidt-Shklovskaya into English, a work integrating pedagogical approaches from Horowitz’s teacher, Felix Blumenfeld, and the principles of efficient movement by Dr. Kryzhanovsky, who worked with the Nobel Prize Winner Dr. Ivan Pavlov and treated young Shostakovich and Prokofiev.
