I am an assistant professor in the Department of Statistics at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Campus Bogotá, Colombia.
Previously, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institut für Mathematische Stochastik (IMS) of the Georg-August Universität Göttingen, Germany. My host was Prof. Dr. Anja Sturm.
Education:
PhD in Probability and Statistics at Centro de Investigación en Matemáticas, A.C. (CIMAT), Mexico. I worked under the supervision of Dr. Juan Carlos Pardo (CIMAT), Dr. Marcel Ortgiese (University of Bath, UK), and Dr. Sandra Palau (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM).
M.Sc. in Mathematics at Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Campus Medellín). I worked under the supervision of Dr. Jorge Ramirez.
B. Sc. in Mathematics at Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Campus Medellín).
For others details on my academic background and more activities, see my Curriculum Vitae.
My research interests lie primarily in probability theory and statistics as well as their applications to biology and epidemiology. Specifically, I am interested in: branching processes, Lévy processes, random environment, random graphs, interactive particle systems, Markov processes, mathematical biology, simulation and modelling of stochastic processes.
