Dear Newmarket Ward 1 Residents,

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Ward 1 Councillor in Newmarket.

I am a resident of Ward 1 in Newmarket, a community where my family and I proudly call home. Having a direct, day-to-day connection to our neighbourhood gives me a strong understanding of the opportunities, challenges, and priorities that matter most to residents.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving our community through volunteer work, local initiatives, and advisory roles focused on economic development.  As a management professor and consultant, and community-minded professional, I have spent more than a decade working across academia, industry, and public–private initiatives in Canada, France, and the United States. Throughout my career, I have helped organizations solve complex challenges, build partnerships, and create sustainable solutions. I believe these experiences have prepared me to bring thoughtful leadership, evidence-based decision-making, and a collaborative approach to local government.

I am running for Ward 1 Councillor to bring leadership that listens to residents, engages the community, and delivers meaningful results. I recognize that many families and local businesses are navigating a period of economic uncertainty, and this makes it even more important that local decisions are thoughtful, responsible, and focused on long-term community well-being.

If elected, I will work to protect and enhance the quality of life in Ward 1 by supporting safe, clean, and well-maintained neighbourhoods, preserving our valued parks and green spaces, and strengthening the local businesses, arts, sports, cultural activities, and community events that bring residents together and enrich daily life. I will be a strong advocate for Ward 1 residents, ensuring their voices are heard and their interests are reflected in decisions made at the Town of Newmarket.

At the same time, I recognize that councillors play an important role in shaping the future of the entire town. I will support balanced, sustainable, and forward-looking growth that keeps Newmarket prosperous and full of opportunities, so that our children can choose to build their lives, careers, and raise families here. I will work collaboratively with different stakeholders to improve infrastructure, attract investment, and expand opportunities for residents. I am also committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and welcoming Newmarket where arts, culture, sports, recreation, and community events strengthen connections, making our town a special place to live.

I believe that the best solutions emerge when we work together. I am committed to working closely with residents, businesses, community groups, and fellow council members to address local priorities and help shape a prosperous future for Newmarket. Throughout this campaign, I look forward to listening to your ideas, learning about your concerns, and discussing how we can build a strong Ward 1 and Newmarket for current and future generations.
