This year’s Eid celebration is unlike any other years before. This year, we were celebrating Eid at our home. It was just as last year, but at least we can return to our hometown last year. This year is the most boring Eid I’ve ever experienced, but it was still memorable to all of us.
Although this year does not feel like the other years, I am still glad because I still have my parents and siblings to celebrate the Eid. And the most important thing, I am not going to be selfish and risk my health in order to have fun.
Eid festival is a celebration all Muslims who have done fasting over the month of Ramadan. Despite overwhelmed by the happiness of celebrating this honoured day, this year's Eid was not as special as it used to be. Many families can't meet each other due to the restricted MCO (movement control order). The same goes for what I experienced during Eid where my brothers weren't home to celebrate Eid together.
Every year, Muslims around the world will be celebrating Eid al-Fitr, a celebration after one month of fasting, from dawn to sunset. My family and I always celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri in the village which is located in Johor. But this time, I feel the time slip so easily through my hands during the last day of Ramadan. Is it because of the devastating, yet expected news of PKP announced the day before? Once again, stuck in our home during Syawal. Despite that, my mother never skips our yearly tradition of preparing various Raya dishes, whether to serve dozens of family members-- or just seven of us. What’s even Eid Fitr without 'Sambal Goreng?'
