About Doom the Dark Ages

May 15, 2025 — Bethesda Softworks and id Software have officially released DOOM: The Dark Ages, the latest entry in the legendary DOOM franchise. The game is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and launches day-one on Xbox Game Pass.

Unlike its futuristic predecessors, DOOM: The Dark Ages takes players into a dark, techno-medieval world—serving as a prequel to 2016's DOOM and 2020’s DOOM Eternal. The game explores the origin story of the Doom Slayer, placing him in the middle of an apocalyptic war between the Night Sentinels and the demonic forces of Hell.

Set in the ancient world of Argent D’Nur, players will experience a brutal, gothic-inspired setting filled with towering fortresses, armored knights, and biomechanical monstrosities. Despite the medieval aesthetic, fans can expect the franchise’s trademark fast-paced, first-person combat—now infused with era-appropriate weaponry such as flails, shields, and a brutal new melee system, alongside the iconic shotgun and chainsaw.
