Every question drops down to an answer that I wrote myself and probably didn't edit or spell check. Some are much longer than others. Read at your own leisure, and don't feel compelled to email me just because I ask
Nathaniel Peter Hoffman, known to friends as Nate, is a writer, activist and content creator. Nate was born in Queens, New York, and loves sharing stories, being creative and supporting freedom of self expression. Nate feels very comfortable sharing information about his life (to a certain extent, more on boundaries later) and encourages you to send an email asking any and every question you can think of. Writing about himself is Nathaniel's favorite pastime and not-so-secret anymore guilty pleasure. This website, for example, is entirely about Nate, just so he knows he can relay specific parts of himself to others when he wants to.
Nate is currently using he/him pronouns because he doesn't feel the need to change them to feel confident expressing himself. He identifies as gender-fluid but was born and presents as a cisgender male. Nate genuinely does not care what pronouns you use; he/she/they are all acceptable and none feel disrespectful. At this moment in time, allowing his family to understand him does not include asking them to change their language. Nate recognizes that using the right pronouns is difficult even for people that identify differently themselves, and has developed a sense of radical acceptance about most things in life. He does not want to spend time having conversations about pronouns and talking about how they make him feel, because he would rather not feel anything about pronouns - they are what they are, and Nate is who he is, regardless of the language people use to describe him. Nate is confident in his own skin and not afraid to express himself however masculine or feminine he is feeling, and encourages you to use he/him pronouns regardless of his appearance.
To quote Le Fil (a world-famous performer who competed on two seasons of Drag Race)
"I will grow my hair, cry if I want to, and I am still a man!"
Inspired by Le Fil, Nate feels like he is breaking down stereotypes and re-defining gender norms by using he/him pronouns despite identifying as gender-fluid. He actively shifts his perspective of the world to allow those pronouns to make him feel empowered rather than try to change how other people use them.
Nate believes if people can see that using the pronoun he to describe someone that presents as female isn't always a bad thing, it's just about communicating and understanding how that person identifies and what they feel comfortable with. Respecting others' boundaries by allowing your actions to support their beliefs even if they are different from your own is part of agreeing to disagree, a superpower Nate hopes everyone in the world can learn to develop kindly. If you are someone who already knows Nate, then you already know exactly who he is, and he is not planning on changing anytime soon now that he likes himself. If you want to show your love and support, you can do so by continuing to support his writing and not bringing up his pronouns in conversation. He won't be upset if you do, but he also just feels like he has better things to talk about and really doesn't care what you think about his gender identity of how you feel about his pronouns, especially because he's not asking you to change what you call him, he's simply admitting how he wants to identify.
To quote a song from my mother's favorite movie,
"Let's Start at the very beginning - a very good place to start."
If you know which movie/musical that is from, or even better, the name of the song, then we are probably going to be great friends. If you weren't already aware, that's fine too - it doesn't mean we can't be friends. It just means I'm going to continue to bug you to watch The Sound of Music with me until you give in. Why? Because watching that movie as a child helped shape my love for theater, self expression and open communication.
So, where do you begin? Wherever you want! This website is meant to be a slice of my brain. Every thought organized under a headline. Every image is purposefully captured and tastefully described. Every feeling and moment of my life that I think is worth sharing is already or will be uploaded to this site. So start wherever you want. Read or watch whatever appeals to your interests. I'm not going anywhere, and this content is here to stay
Also, chronology is overrated, so don't worry about following any particular order - my brain doesn't, and my words and opinions sure don't either :p
This website is Nathaniel's not-so-humble piece of pie that he wants everyone to try. This site consists primarily of a photo archive and diary log that represent key moments in Nate's life that made him who he is. Nate believes he made this website selfishly as a way to share his life with others with the least amount of effort possible. Yes, that's right. Nate believes designing his own website, answering questions nobody asked, writing captions for photos that other people don't know exist, and sharing entires from his diaries that describe his most authentic and vulnerable thoughts and feelings, is EASIER than having a conversation.
Well, not easier - just more thorough. Nate likes to talk A LOT and is very conscious of the fact that he only has limited time, and has to be very careful about what he chooses to say, not because he's afraid of saying the wrong thing, but because he wants to share the things that are genuinely the most important. Many of these answers may be edited down later to emphasize the main points. As of right now, Nate believes each response is just the right length, and is focused on writing instead of editing. Come back later to find out if his opinions have changed or simply been editorialized to emphasize his own true voice more accurately.
Nate was born on June 4, 2002. That makes him a gemini, and as of June 4th, 2026, he is 24 years old. This year is the first time Nate finally feels his age: not younger, not older - exactly where he's supposed to be.
The following is a 450-word self written profile on Nate's thoughts about age:
Nate thinks everyone has three ages: mental, physical and actual; how old they feel, how old they look to others, and how old they actually are. This is the first year Nate feels like all three of his ages are the same, and regardless of whether that's true, his belief allows him to feel confident enough to share his vulnerable side, as well as voice opinions that he used to be afraid to make known. For example, Nate is fully aware that some children who are age ten, for example, have more developed brains than others, but they all get classified as the same age and are taught things in similar ways or along similar timelines. This makes Nate aware that every child grows at a different rate. Some 12 year olds have the mind of a 40 year old while others are still living like they were when they were six.
Realizing this helps Nate connect empathically with other people at every single age and see the human side of them which still has three basic needs which always can be approached the same regardless of age:
Attention, belief, and creativity. I firmly believe that every human problem can be solved with the right amount of attention, belief in yourself and creative prowess. A newborn baby causing a problem? They need attention, they need you to believe that you can help, and sometimes, they need you to get creative with the solution. Sometimes you have to change a diaper on the floor of a bathroom because the designers didn't think any dads would take their kids into the bathroom; the stereotype that it's a woman's job can create discomfort for everyone when the men' s room isn't equipped with the same tools. Just like the stereotype that men will carry things makes it difficult to find women's pants with sizable pockets, or dresses with pockets even.
Nate realizes these thoughts and beliefs are his perspective, and invites you to challenge his ideas. If you're 5 or 82, this is something you can do. And if you pop-it, lock-it and polka-dot-it with me, then our Hoedown might just be a Throwdown afterall. If Miley Cyrus changed your life as much as she changed mind, go watch an old episode of Hannah Montana and re-live your childhood for a moment, then tell me what episode you watched and how it made you feel. I'd love to re-watch a random old episode vicariously through you - of any show really! Go ahead and email me a synopsis of the most recent episode you've watched of any TV show, and if you do, I'll send you a video message about why I'm thankful that you shared with me :)
Nate writes because he needs to. Writing comes as easy to Nate as breathing. If Nate couldn't write, his head would explode. Whether typing on a laptop or his phone, or using any pen or pencil on any paper, putting his words into the world is the only way Nate can manage the chaos that exists inside his mind.
Nate generally writes poetry and prose. He is working on a fictional series which he hopes to develop a screenplay for, and one day turn into an animated series. Nate is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to writing, but his inner voice and signature style always shines through, specifically run-on sentences like this one. He is also working on an auto-biography full of anecdotes, and wants to publish a children's' book series, ya-novel series, horror novel, romance novel and more over the span of his life.
How does a bird know to fly south for the winter? How does your body know when to wake up? I don't know the answer to every question, so I can admit, I don't know how I come up with ideas. I just know the ideas are always going to be there, and I know I will never run out.
Nate was born number 10 with 9 older siblings. He also has two younger brothers, making 12 siblings total. Have you ever seen the movie Cheaper by The Dozen? That's pretty much his life.
Nate cares so much about so many things all the time that he is constantly overwhelmed and likes to spend a massive amount of time alone to write out his thoughts and come to terms with his feelings. Nate is a sensitive, empathetic person, but he is also great at masking his true feelings when he wants to. The only way to be sure Nate is telling the truth is to ask him a direct question very specifically - Nate cannot lie under pressure and will almost always tell the truth because it's easier than thinking of a lie. Actually, not easier to think; Nate is constantly telling himself stories in his brain, making up random lies, so the overwhelm continues through navigating things like which lie to choose, and it's easiest to stop overthinking by just telling the truth
Nate writes every day. He's proboably writing right now, if he's not sleeping. Nate writes an average of 5000 words per day across all of his journals, thoughts and stories he is constanly scribing.
Nate is most inspired by Studio Ghibli. The artistry of Hayao Miyazaki's art and storytelling combined with Joe Hisashi's compositions are the life force that all of his love for the Earth is fueled by. Honorable mentions to Lady Gaga and Adore Delano, plus so many more he could write 10,000 more words just on the subject.
