The Europeans started looking to expand their land, they made treaties that gave the native americans rights in return for land, and many of those treaties have yet to be fulfilled today.
Over the centuries, lies have been passed down that showed the europeans as people who gave to the native americans, and where the ones being kind, when it was quite the other way around. Examples of these lies are shown in famous works of art such as this one:
As you see, this painting shows the europeans giving food to the natives, who are sitting down as the pilgrims are standing, which is a subtle way of placing the importance on the europeans, when if it weren't for the natives, the settlement of Jamestown would not have lasted through the first winter.
