Hi Annapolis! My name is Darby and I am an in-home petsitter. I have been petsitting for about 6 years--I began with some of my babysitting clients who asked me to dogsit, then moved to Rover, and now I have started my own business! I offer petsitting services in Annapolis and Arnold; if you're located in another surrounding town, please reach out as I'm open to some areas of Edgewater, Severna Park, and Davidsonville. I am insured through Pet Care Insurance. Even if you don't book with me, please make sure you're petsitters have their own insurance!
Throughout my life, I've had 2-3 dogs at any given time. In college, I got a BA in Psychology, and realized how much of it is applicable to dog training. While I am not a dog trainer myself, I do attend weekly dog training classes so that I am continually aware of how to best interact and communicate with dogs.
I do not have any breed restrictions. In fact, I grew up with German Shepherds, and am a dog mom to 3 Siberian Huskies and a German Shepherd (all of whom were adopted!) I also had a domestic, long hair tuxedo cat for 14 years. My family's West Highland Terrier has had Addison's Disease since he was a puppy, so I am used to daily medication and special dietary needs, as well. However, please share any medical needs before booking.
I completely understand how stressful it can be to leave your pets at home. Ask my parents (they're my dogsitters!) how many times I check in on my pups when I'm away....an unnecessary amount, I'm a terrible client! But, our pets are our family and leaving them with someone who isn't family is a big deal. So rest assured, I want to ease your anxiety about leaving them, and make sure that they're also as relaxed as possible!
Overnight Pet Sitting
Please note I do work a "typical" office job that requires me to be on site 3 days a week (8-4:30). This makes me perfect for any pups who have grown accustomed to having their quiet, alone time during the day while their pawrents go to work. One of the main reasons people opt for a housesitter, rather than boarding their dog(s), is because they want their dog(s) to remain in their home environment and maintain their routine, so I'm particularly ideal for families whose pups enjoy their work-day independence! But, when I'm not at work, you can be certain that I will be giving your furry family members all of the love and affection they need!
Depending on your proximity to my office, I may be able to visit during my lunch break on my in-office days.
I am insured through Pet Care Insurance. Whether you book with me or another sitter, please make sure they are insured specifically for pet care!
Besides dogsitting, you can find me working on training with my dogs, volunteering at the SPCA, planning our next trip, learning more about house plants and gardening, and watching different sitcoms with my husband. We just got married in Disney World in November 2025!
My full-time job is a Reference Archivist. I have a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Studio Art from Gettysburg College, and a Masters of Library and Information Sciences from University of Maryland, College Park.
