NAPINDAN INTEGRATED SCHOOL

HISTORY

Napindan Barrio School was first established in 1973 by Mayor Artemio Natividad. During that time only the grades I and II pupils attended the formal class. Due to the declaration of World War II in 1941 the school was temporarily closed. It was in the year 1944 that the school was reopened by the American through the request of the community. In 1962, the name of the school was changed to Napindan Elementary School with complete elementary grade level.

It was only last year, May, 2015 when the school was changed into Napindan Integrated School through the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders catering only Grade VI due to lack of buildings and classrooms. At present, it has a total population of 2888, 73 strong and committed teachers, 7 utility workers, 1 school clerk and 10 security guards. There are 6 school building, with 36 academic classrooms and ancillary service centers.

Napindan Integrated School is located at Barangay Napindan. A barangay situated at the north – eastern shore of Laguna de Bay and on its South Eastern part are rice fields. Because of its geographical location, 60% of the family heads of Napindan are engaged in fishing, 25% are farmers, 10% are employed in industrial firms found in this area and the rest are unemployed due to illiteracy. Another common problem of this barangay is that during typhoons and rainy days the whole area including the school ground and classrooms are flooded. This is because of the very elevation of the site.

At present there are many informal settlers living at nearly places, making Napindan look like sprouting fields. Migration in Napindan is high, making it thickly populated nowadays.
