Android App

The android application consists of an application able to interact with a NAO robot, exploiting a client/server connection.

The main activity of the app, allows the user to select the desired function between the following resources:

• Joypad, this fragment allows to teleoperate the robot by means of a virtual joypad. To this end, this component can be personalized, by adding further functionalities and features.
• Speech Interface, this fragment creates two Speech Listener interfaces to be used by the user: PocketSphinx API, which continuously listend for keywords/keyphrases and Google Speech Recognition, that can either be used as Push-To-Talk interface or as phrase recognizer that gets called fter PocketSphinx recognizes a keyword.
• Dialogue Interface, this is the fragment which allows communication to the NAO through the connection to the server.

In the drop down menu is possible to modify the settings of the application. The most important parameters are the IP address and Port Number which allow the communication with the robot connected on the server.

In the main activity the user has also the possibility to examine the robot database in which are included all the robots of the LabRoCoCo. The user can explore the database either with a text or voice search. Once an entry is selected, various informations about that robot will be displayed (e.g main description, website, youtube video, etc.).
