Nan has broad interests! She enjoys playing and composing music, fine arts, photography, sports, and traveling.
Nan is a pianist and has won multiple awards. She was honored as the National Outstanding Pianist (China) in 2006, clinched the First Prize at the Beijing Piano Festival in 2004 and 2006, and won First Place in the Concerto Competition of the University of Rochester in 2009.
During her undergraduate years in Rochester, Nan was accepted into the "Primary Piano Study" program at the renowned Eastman School of Music, where she was mentored by Prof. Vincent Lenti. This program is specifically designed for piano majors at the school. Additionally, she served as the pianist for the University of Rochester Symphony Orchestra and later for the Cornell University Wind Ensemble.
Nan's performances in the U.S. include personal recitals and concerts at the University of Rochester and Cornell University, recitals at the Eastman School of Music, and tour performances in the Washington DC area, including the outdoor public concert at Jefferson Memorial for celebrating Jefferson's 270th birthday and the city’s Cherry Blossom Festival. Nan also likes traveling and taking photos. She holds the title of Master Photographer on GuruShots. Her photos have been showcased in global exhibitions, including those at Valid World Hall in Barcelona, Hinterland Gallery in Vienna, Ravnikar Gallery in Ljubljana, Blank Wall Gallery in Athens, and Laurent Gallery in Melbourne. Additionally, some of her captured moments from the USA can be found in an online album.
Nan served as the winger in University of Rochester Women's Rugby Team from Spring 2008 to Fall 2009. She participated National Rugby Championship Tournaments (New York State) in Spring 2009. At Cornell, Nan was the co-founder of the International Tennis Club, and served as the president from Fall 2013 to Summer 2014.
