I am a physicist with a passion for mathematics. At the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), I studied both Chemical Physics (Dept. 3) and Modern Physics (Dept. 4, major, B.Sc. 2001). I completed (2009) my PhD in theoretical and computational space plasma physics at Boston University under the guidance of Prof. Nathan Schwadron, with research largely conducted at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), hosted by Dr. Dan Winske and the late Dr. S. Peter Gary. I then undertook a postdoctoral position at the Bartol Research Institute, University of Delaware, with Profs. Michael A. Shay and William H. Matthaeus, and was subsequently promoted (2012) to a research scientist position. While family matters kept me in the UK, I found support through an STFC Daphne Jackson Fellowship (2018-2021). Now with coordinates in Germany, I dedicate my time to scientific publishing, in particular, rekindling my passion for mathematics.
In 2024, with Prof. Helmut Bölcskei, and with the support from our colleagues, we proposed, founded, and launched the Springer Journal Mathematical Foundations of Machine Learning (submissions open on 01-01-2025).
