Dr Subrata Ghosh

Subrata grew up in Kolaghat, West Bengal, India where he completed his schooling. His grown interest encouraged to study bachelor degree in Physics from the Vidyasagar University and master degree in Physics from the Presidency College (Autonomous under University of Calcutta). He received his Ph.D. in 2016 from Homi Bhaba National Institute for his doctoral thesis on vertical graphene nanosheets for supercapacitor application under the supervision of Prof. Kamruddin. He moved in December 2016 to the Prof. Mathews’s lab at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, India to work on nanostructures for high-performance supercapacitor applications. In November 2017, He worked as a Brain Korea 21 plus postdoc fellow under the supervision of Prof. Jeong at Chungbuk National University, the Republic of Korea on designing materials for energy storage. Currently, Subrata joined Suelen Barg’s research group from February 2019 to work on 2D materials for energy storage electrode and enjoying the pleasant environment of Manchester. His research involves designing smart nanostructures, understanding how they are architecting themselves during the growth process and exploring into next-generation energy applications (Supercapacitors and batteries). The details about him and his research can be found on his homepage. In spare time, he likes playing cricket, football and table tennis, cooking, gardening, watching televisions and travelling.
