Dr Gustavo Tontini

Bachelor in Physics (2011), with Master's Degree (2013) and PhD in Materials Science and Engineering in the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil (2017). Was a Postdoctoral Researcher at UFSC from August, 2017 to February, 2018. Actively participated with research grants since 2010 as a Researcher on multidisciplinary public-private projects between UFSC and Brazillian Company EMBRACO on the development of new materials for compressors. Also worked for a brief period as a Teaching Fellow at the Physics Department of UFSC (2013). He has experience in Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured Materials and their Applications, with emphasis on Metallic Materials and Hybrid Composites, acting on the following themes: Wet chemical synthesis, electroless deposited thin films, powder metallurgy with nanostructured materials, tribology, soft magnetic composites, electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis. Currently is an Academic Visitor at the University of Manchester, conducting a Postdoctoral Research under supervision of Dr. Suelen Barg on the study of MXene synthesis and processing through emulsion template and freeze casting methods. This research is funded by the Brazilian agency CAPES. More details can be found in his website.
