Privacy Policy for AI Chat Translator
This Privacy Policy explains how the TranslatorPro mobile application ("TranslatorPro", "the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use it. TranslatorPro is a language-translation app that offers text, voice, camera (photo/OCR), handwriting, conversation, and clipboard translation, an optional translator keyboard, phrasebooks, learning games, and an optional paid "Pro" subscription.
Please read this policy carefully. By downloading or using TranslatorPro, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Summary (the short version)
* We do not run our own servers that store your translations. Your translation history, favorites, and saved words stay on your device.
* To translate text while you are online, the content you translate is sent to Google's translation service to produce the result. If you download offline language packs, translation happens on your device and that text is not sent anywhere.
* Camera/photo text recognition (OCR) and handwriting recognition run on your device using Google ML Kit. Your images and ink are not uploaded by us.
* Voice translation uses your device's own speech-recognition service (typically Google's), which processes your speech under that provider's policy.
* We use third-party services for ads (Google AdMob and AppLovin), analytics and crash reporting (Google Firebase), push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), and purchases (Google Play Billing).
* We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information the app processes
a. Content you translate
When you type, paste, speak, scan with the camera, handwrite, or copy text for translation, that content ("Translation Content") is processed to give you a result:
* Online translation: When your device has an internet connection and the relevant offline pack is not used, your Translation Content is sent to Google's translation endpoints (for example translate.google.com and translate.googleapis.com) to return the translation, and — where available — transliteration (romanization) and alternative translations. This transmission is necessary to provide the translation.
* Offline translation: If you download an offline language pack, translation for that language runs locally on your device via Google ML Kit, and the text is not sent off the device for that translation.
We do not use your Translation Content to build advertising profiles, and we do not send it to our own servers (we do not operate translation servers).
b. History, favorites, and saved words
The app can keep a local record of your recent translations, your favorites, and words you save ("My Words") so you can find them again. This information is stored on your device only (in the app's local storage). You can clear it in the app, and it is removed if you uninstall the app.
c. Voice input
Voice and conversation translation rely on your device's built-in speech-recognition service (commonly provided by Google). When you use voice features, your spoken audio is handled by that service to convert speech to text; the resulting text is then translated as described above. TranslatorPro does not record or store your audio, and the app does not request a microphone permission of its own — the system speech recognizer manages the microphone and the audio.
d. Camera and images (photo / OCR translation)
Camera and photo translation use the camera to capture an image, then recognize text in it using Google ML Kit text recognition, which runs on your device. The recognized text may then be translated (online or offline, per section 2a). We do not upload your photos or camera frames to us, and the app does not save your captured photos to your gallery unless you choose to.
e. Handwriting
Handwriting ("digital ink") translation uses Google ML Kit digital-ink recognition on your device to convert what you write into text, which is then translated. The ink is processed locally.
f. Clipboard
* Clipboard translation: The app offers a feature that reads text you have copied so it can translate it for you.
* Translator keyboard: If you enable and switch to the optional TranslatorPro keyboard, the keyboard can watch the clipboard so that copied text can be offered for one-tap translation.
The clipboard is read only to provide these translation features. Clipboard contents are not otherwise collected, stored by us, or shared, beyond the translation processing described in section 2a.
g. Translator keyboard (input method)
TranslatorPro includes an optional custom keyboard (an Android input method). You choose whether to enable it and set it as your default keyboard. When you type into the keyboard's dedicated translate bar, that text is translated as described in section 2a. Ordinary typing you do with the keyboard is delivered to whichever app you are typing in and is not collected by TranslatorPro.
h. Advertising information
TranslatorPro is supported by ads (unless you subscribe to Pro). To show ads, our advertising partners — Google AdMob and AppLovin — may access your device's advertising identifier (Advertising ID) and limited technical/device information, and may use it to serve and, where permitted, personalize and measure ads. See section 4 for links to their policies and section 8 for your ad choices.
i. Analytics and crash diagnostics
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to diagnose crashes and errors. This may include app usage events, feature interactions, an app-instance identifier, and diagnostic details such as device model, operating-system version, app version, language/region, and crash logs (including stack traces and the state of the app at the time of a crash). This helps us fix bugs and improve the app.
j. Push notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send notifications (for example reminders and product updates). This uses a device registration token. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.
k. Purchases (Pro subscription)
If you buy a Pro subscription or other in-app purchase, the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles your payment details — we do not receive or store your card or bank information. We receive your purchase and entitlement status so the app can unlock paid features.
l. Remote configuration
We use Firebase Remote Config to enable/disable features and roll out changes without an app update. This involves the app requesting configuration values from Google.
3. Device permissions we request
* Internet / Network state — To fetch online translations, load ads, send analytics/crash reports, and retrieve remote configuration.
* Camera — For camera and photo (OCR) translation. Used only when you open a camera feature.
* Notifications — To show translation results, reminders, and updates. You can decline or disable these.
* Advertising ID — Used by our ad partners to serve and measure ads (not used when you have Pro, subject to your device-level ad settings).
* Speech recognition — To use your device's speech recognizer for voice/conversation translation.
The app reads the clipboard only for the clipboard/keyboard translation features described above. You are always in control of enabling optional features such as the camera, the translator keyboard, and notifications.
4. Third-party services
TranslatorPro relies on the following third-party services, which process data as described above under their own privacy policies:
* Google ML Kit (on-device translation, text recognition/OCR, language identification, digital-ink recognition) — https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms and https://policies.google.com/privacy
* Google Translate service (online translation, transliteration, alternatives) — https://policies.google.com/privacy
* Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config) — https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy and https://policies.google.com/privacy
* Google AdMob (advertising) — https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543 and https://policies.google.com/privacy
* AppLovin (advertising / mediation) — https://www.applovin.com/privacy/
* Google Play Billing / Google Play services (purchases, in-app review, device services) — https://policies.google.com/privacy
* Your device's speech-recognition provider (for voice input) — governed by that provider's privacy policy.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their policies.
5. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
* Provide translation and the app's features (text, voice, camera/OCR, handwriting, conversation, clipboard, keyboard, phrasebooks, and games);
* Save your history, favorites, and words locally so you can reuse them;
* Show and measure ads (for non-Pro users);
* Process and validate purchases and unlock Pro features;
* Diagnose crashes, monitor performance, and improve reliability and usability;
* Send notifications you have allowed;
* Maintain the security and proper functioning of the app.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your Translation Content for advertising.
6. Data storage and retention
* On-device data (history, favorites, saved words, settings, downloaded offline language packs) remains on your device. You can clear it within the app, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app.
* Analytics and crash data are retained by Google/Firebase according to their retention settings and policies.
* Advertising data is handled by our ad partners under their policies.
* Translation Content sent for online translation is processed by Google to return a result under Google's policies; we do not retain it on any server of ours.
7. Security
We rely on the security measures of the Android platform and of the third-party providers listed above, and network requests use secure connections (HTTPS) where supported. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and rights
* Ads: You can reset or limit your Advertising ID in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads on most Android devices), and you can remove ads by subscribing to Pro.
* Notifications: You can turn notifications off in your device or app settings.
* Permissions: You can grant or revoke the camera and notification permissions at any time in Android settings. Some features will not work without the permission they need.
* Local data: You can clear your history, favorites, and saved words in the app, or remove all local data by uninstalling.
* Keyboard: The translator keyboard is optional; you can disable it or switch back to another keyboard at any time in Android settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) or the CCPA/CPRA (California) — for example the right to access, correct, or delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Because TranslatorPro does not maintain accounts or store your translations on our own servers, most of your data is under your direct control on your device. For requests concerning data held by our third-party providers, please also refer to their policies. To make a request of us, contact us using the details in section 11.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in the sense defined by the CCPA/CPRA beyond the ad-serving described above; you may still exercise available opt-outs through your device settings and our ad partners.
9. Children's privacy
TranslatorPro is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
10. International data transfers
The third-party services we use (such as Google and AppLovin) may process and store information on servers located in countries other than yours, including the United States. By using the app, you understand that your information may be processed in those countries, which may have data-protection laws different from your own. These providers implement their own safeguards for such transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app or on the app's store listing. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
