Nano Banana 2.1 is an online AI image generator and photo editor for product visuals, posters and illustrations. Start with a written prompt or upload reference photos, then describe the result you want in everyday language.
This guide introduces the workflow through two examples: a ceramic mug in a new campaign setting and an illustrated plant-swap poster.

The comparison below starts with an AI-generated sage-green mug on a plain background. That image was then used as a reference for a campaign concept with a limestone plinth, an apricot backdrop and soft leaf shadows. Both images are AI-generated examples.
A starting prompt to adapt: “Use the reference mug. Keep its shape, sage-green color, speckled glaze and handle. Place it on a pale limestone plinth against a warm apricot background, with soft sunlight from the upper left. Leave space around the product. No text or logos.”
Name the details that should stay and the elements that should change. Compare the result with your reference before using it: subject consistency is not guaranteed.
The plant-swap example combines a short headline, three illustrated plants and a restrained green, terracotta and pink palette. It was generated from text at the 2K setting with a portrait 3:4 ratio.
A starting prompt to adapt: “Create a portrait plant-swap poster on warm cream paper. Use a dark-green headline reading ‘PLANT SWAP’, followed by ‘SATURDAY 10 AM’. Illustrate three potted plants. Add ‘BRING A PLANT. TAKE A PLANT.’ at the bottom. Use generous margins and a screen-printed style.”
Put the exact words in quotation marks and describe the hierarchy. Check every letter in the full-size result; choosing a larger output does not automatically fix spelling or layout errors.
Two workflows: create a new image from text or edit using reference photos.
Reference inputs: up to 14 images per request with Nano Banana 2.1.
Output: 1K, 2K or 4K, with flexible aspect ratios. Exact pixel dimensions depend on the selected settings.
Downloads: choose JPG or PNG before generating.
Credits: review the displayed cost before each request.
Open the generator and choose Text to Image or Image to Image.
Write a brief or upload your references and describe the changes.
Select your output settings, check the credit cost and sign in to generate.
