I've always liked math and physics and I believe that the interplay between the two fields is very interesting. I love to learn about partial differential equations (PDEs) and numerical analysis, which are both great tools to have for studying math and physics. My specialty falls under computational electromagnetics, more precisely finite difference methods for submodels of magnetohydrodynamic equations.
Magnetohydrodynamics couples Maxwell's equations for electrodynamics with the equations of hydrodynamics to model electrically conducting fluids
The Hall model is capable of modeling "fast" magnetic reconnection
Currently interested in developing higher order methods for electromagnetic models
I am also learning the fundamentals of mimetic finite-difference methods
Internship through Sustainable Horizon Institute's Sustainable Research Pathways Program
Investigated image segmentation through quantum random walks
I interned in the Computational Mechanics and Materials Department learning about and applying different sensitivity analysis (SA) methods.
I learned about particle-in-cell (PIC) codes for my capstone project at the University of Michigan (advisor: Dr. Robert Krasny) and used it to simulate the two-stream instability of a one-component electrostatic plasma.Â
