About Nancy

Nancy Mary Jaramillo is a primarily figurative artist working in the medium of charcoal, conte' crayon, pastel on paper and oil paint on canvas or birch plywood panel.

Since the mid nineteen nineties, in addition to working from the human form, she began an exploration of the still-life genre concentrating on botanical and avian subject matter. During this era she began accepting portrait commissions, creating portraits painted in oil on panel with gilded backgrounds.

Nancy is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1980 and Furman University, Greenville, South Carolina, 1988.

As a participant in Furman University's Asian Studies Program, Nancy studied the Japanese Language, Art History and Literature at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan.

Her work is in the public collections of the Greenville County Museum of Art, Greenville, South Carolina, Columbia College, Columbia, South Carolina, Erskine College, Due West, South Carolina, The Fine Arts Center, Greenville, South Carolina, The South Carolina State Art Collection, Columbia, South Carolina and The Mint Museum of Art, Charlotte, North Carolina.
