Our group is focusing on creating self-contained microsystems on a single chip platform by integrating new microstructures with low-power, wireless circuits and systems.
Multi-Access Edge Computing
In addition to the use of 5G cellular networks, edge computing technology (and its associated multi-access edge computing (MEC) standard) provides application developers and content providers with a cloud computing infrastructure and an environment for creating IT services at the edge of the network. The adoption of the MEC with 5G connections will have the potential to reduce implementation and operating costs compared to previous mobile networks and will allow real-time access to radio network information. This will also allow operators to open their networks to new services, to host content and applications that require higher levels of performance and lower latency.
Intelligent RADAR Systems
Usually when problems of an unmanned vehicle are discussed the two types of vehicles are mentioned: aerial and ground. One of the main problems remains the determination of the speed, position, and other parameters of such moving objects. For solving such problems, sensor systems based on radar technology are currently widely used. In this regard, the urgent task is to detect and filter false targets when using millimeter-wave radars. Millimeter-wave radar systems for automotive application include pulse radar, frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar, spread spectrum radar, and etc.
Computing in Biomedical Sensors
Sensor-Cloud System (SCS) is an effective combination of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and Cloud Computing, which bonds physical sensor nodes, applications, and users together. SCS solves some deficiencies which are in traditional wireless sensor networks, like the sensor-node-sharing problem that applications monopolize physical sensor nodes, the data-analyzing problem that WSNs cannot cope well with large amounts of data analysis tasks due to limitations in terms of memory, energy, computing power, and so on, the user-away-from problem that users cannot get heterogeneous network services as sensing-as-service, etc.
