I am an Associate Professor at the JSW School of Public Policy (JSW SPP), Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA). I also serve as the Chairperson of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) at IIMA. I am a Fellow of the Initiative for Sustainable Energy Policy (ISEP) at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Previously, I was an Assistant Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), National University of Singapore (NUS) and a faculty associate at the Institute of Water Policy, NUS.
My research is two-pronged, focusing on rigorous empirical policy analysis and theoretical contributions to the field of public policy. Empirically, my work sits at the intersection of sustainable development and social policy, with a focus on energy, water, climate change, and health policy. I draw on survey data, administrative data, and remote-sensing data, using primarily causal inference techniques. Theoretically, I have contributed to the conceptual foundations of policy design, policy capacity, policy innovation, and policy entrepreneurship, and how these dimensions shape and interact with one another.
My research has been published in top development and policy journals including Bulletin of the World Health Organization, Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Journal of Development Studies, Public Administration and Development, Water Resources Management, and World Development.
I am an award-winning educator, having received the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (2018) and the university-level Annual Teaching Excellence Award from the National University of Singapore (2019).
I earned my Ph.D. in Policy Studies (International Development) from the University of Maryland, College Park. I hold an M.A. in Development Studies from the University of Manchester.
My professional experience includes working at McKinsey & Company and at international organizations including Global Development Network and the Asian Development Bank.
