I am an Associate Professor at the JSW School of Public Policy (JSW SPP), Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA). I also serve as the Chairperson of JSW SPP and Chairperson of the Faculty Development Program (FDP). I am a Fellow of the Initiative for Sustainable Energy Policy (ISEP) at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Previously, I was an Assistant Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), National University of Singapore (NUS) and a faculty associate at the Institute of Water Policy, NUS.
My research addresses questions pertaining to sustainable development and social policy. Currently, my three key research themes are access to basic infrastructure (energy, water, and sanitation); individual and household welfare (poverty, inequality, subjective well-being); and gender and development. My methodological approach is quantitative analysis and policy impact evaluation using primary, secondary, and administrative policy data.
My research has been published in top development and policy journals including Bulletin of the World Health Organization, Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Journal of Development Studies, Water Resources Management, and World Development.
I earned my Ph.D. in Policy Studies (International Development) from the University of Maryland, College Park. I hold an M.A. in Development Studies from the University of Manchester.
