Literature to me is all about soul searching. It allows me to look within, it makes me one with my ownself and gives me new perspectives to get closer to understanding the finer nuances of life.
Literature in simple words is the next level of image. An image that we have is an outcome of experiences that we have gone through and literature allows us to give that image a new dimension and makes us richer in terms of dealing with certain situations in life. Literature advocates an elevated art form; simply putting words on a page does not by any stretch of imagination mean creating literature. Literature is imperative to us because it speaks to us and it affects us on a profoundly personal level.
Moreover, literature can be a vital driving force of creative liberation. It allows us to be feel free and develop a sensibility of sorts which separates us from the herd that exists today. Literature, as against technology, integrates human beings and connects them with an imaginary thread of coexistence and acceptance at all levels. Through literature, people communicate with one another not considering their respective professions, class, caste, cultural differences and geography. When people come across a good piece of literature, they are in a way unified as they are brought to the alternate world that a book or a poem creates. In the coexistent world of literature, there is a link or a common ground for people as against the world of science where each person has his/her own interests.
However, Llosa noted that literature does not begin when the author simply creates a poem or a novel. It exists only when it is shared and adopted by other and becomes a part of life, which is done primarily through reading.
At the more practical level, one of the major benefits of literature is that it enriches and enhances language that we use. As it is said by Ezra Pound, 'Language at its best is Literature'. It allows people to put across their thoughts and emotions clearly and in the most creative way possible and reading literature also develops our intellect and imagination at the same time.
Literature has the capacity to transport people to a eternal world where almost everything is perfect and in a way utopian and when we get back to reality, we gradually possess the desire to recreate the alternate element, which we came across while reading any piece of literature. It can be said that literature plays an important role in shaping our thoughts because it allows us to think outside the box and allows us to relentlessly redesign the world. Literature kindles the imagination and broadens creativity, which is essential and often neglected ingredient of life.
Reading literature allows us to experience aesthetic pleasure and it also allows us to learn who we are. Literature is the food of the rebellious spirit and a haven for those who wish to see a difference in terms their approach toward their life in particular and society in general.
