Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology has improved a lot over the past several decades. It has transformed the field of health. It has given a new vision to public health professionals, researchers, and the healthcare system.
It has helped us in mapping out the various conditions. Some are -
Plague
Yellow fever
Typhoid fever
Cholera
Dengue
AIDS
Public health uses GIS to analyze chronic disease (e.g., heart disease, diabetes, cancer), analyze access to public health services (e.g., vaccinations), analyze the food environment, respond to natural and man-made disasters, and design community health communications programs.

I worked on the primary data from community corner stores and community participants that I collected from Escambia County zip codes.

Method-
GIS involves data processing and computing. It is required to know how to handle raw data using coding languages and how to terrain, generate maps, and draw conclusions with that data.
Some of the soft skills needed are communication skills, creativity, and analytical skills.
I am waiting for the time when I can dive into and learn Python, as sometime soon in my career I will probably be required to write code that could be useful for building web interfaces and browser-based mapping applications.
