Nalviki was established in 1609 by sir Gregorial Nalvikalinen, a man of local Finn-Karino origin, he was made ruler of the city by the kingdom of Sweden, who had intograted the Kintlandian mainland, West Nalviki island, and East Nalviki islands into its territory at that time. Before establishment buildings and people where already living there, considered apart of the general Kintlandian island population.
After WWII, the new capital of the peoples republic of South Finland, Nalviki being rebuilt and manipulated into a governing city. Before the capital of the Kintlandian SSR, was the city of Nivian in the south western part of the country, today Kintlands second biggest city by population after Nalviki.

Nalviki hosts a number of historical landmarks and sites including, The Nalviki orthodox cathedral, The Nalviki clocktower, Nalviki historical district, and the "great monument to the people".
