“Tiger” won a Pushcart Prize, and appears in the 37th volume: 2013 Pushcart Prize XXXVII. “A Pushcart Prize selection is one of the very best things that could happen to a writer,” noted Charles Wright. The series has published the best of the small presses since 1976.
O. Henry Prize Stories
“Tiger” was also recognized as an O. Henry Prize Story, and appears in the 2013 O. Henry Prize Story Collection. The Atlantic Monthly notes the O. Henry Prize Stories are, “Widely regarded as the nation's most prestigious awards for short fiction.”
NEA Literature Fellowship
Nalini was awarded a literature fellowship from The National Endowment for the Arts. The goal of the program is to encourage the production of new work and “allow writers the time and means to write.” She was one of 40 writers in 2012 to be granted a creative writing fellowship in prose.
