This class is a mixed media exploration of the e.e. cummings Imagist poem, "I Carry your Heart with Me". Students will work on a small piece using various media such as fabric, paint, pencil, markers, ink) to capture the mood of the work. Emphasis will be on how to take words and lines from a poetic work and creatively illustrate them.

Camera Obscura: Students will create a mini camera obscura using recycled cardboard toilet paper rolls, tracing paper, foil, and masking tape. Ultimately students will be able to take a photo using their phone camera calling it a pinhole shot!!

Create a no sew "Drum Leaf" bound book in this hands-on workshop! This technique allows the book to open flat and is great to use as a journal that uses two-page spreads. It looks very similar to a sewn book and can be covered in a variety of ways.

Using pinch pots the students will make small pinch pot pigs with stoneware clay that they can take back and fire at their school. We will cover all the basics of makeing a pair of pinch pots smoothing the body and adding legs, eyes, a snout, ears and a tail. Students should have a finished 3-4 inch animal when done. We will build with stoneware clay.
