Undergraduate Research Assistant
Sep 2023 - Present
I joined Prof. Dr. Ariful Islam's Lab in the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene, Bangladesh Agricultural University, in September 2023, during my third year at the Faculty of Veterinary Science. This marked the beginning of my research journey, where I have continued to contribute actively to Dr. Ariful Islam’s lab. My initial research involvement was in a PhD project focused on the development of a Brucella abortus biovar 3 vaccine. Subsequently, I participated in investigating various foodborne pathogens and their public health implications as part of a master’s thesis project. These experiences provided me with hands-on exposure to research in microbiology and public health. From the foundation, I gradually built expertise in microbiological research methodologies, honing my skills in specialized areas such as Epidemiology, Public Health, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Vaccinology, and Environmental toxicology. In October 2023, I began collaborating with Prof. Dr. Mst. Minara Khatun, also in the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene, contributing to her diverse projects related to public health.
Throughout my research journey, I have developed a comprehensive set of laboratory skills, including microbiological techniques, molecular and genomic analysis, as well as various types of biological data analysis and interpretation skills. Additionally, I have gained proficiency in leveraging a wide range of programming and bioinformatic tools for data interpretation. These experiences have equipped me with both technical expertise and essential soft skills, positioning me as a versatile and well-rounded researcher in microbiology and biological data science.
