Governed by The Copyright Act, 1957 (India), our architectural drawings, sketches, and digital models are protected as "Artistic Works."
Automatic Protection: Copyright protection is granted automatically upon creation.
Optional Registration: To strengthen legal claims, we may register our work with the Copyright Office of India.
Duration: Copyright protection lasts for the architect’s lifetime plus 60 years.
2. Design Protection (The Designs Act, 2000)
Industrial Design Registration: Unique aesthetic features of our architectural projects, including facades and interior elements, can be registered under the Designs Act, 2000.
Validity: Registered designs are protected for 10 years, extendable by 5 additional years.
3. Trademark Protection for Branding & Identity
The firm’s logo, tagline ("Designing Tomorrow, Respecting Today"), and distinctive design elements are trademarked under the Trade Marks Act, 1999.
Prevention of Imitation: This ensures that competitors cannot misuse or replicate our brand identity.
4. Patent Protection for Innovative Construction Techniques
If Studio Raja develops an innovative construction method, passive cooling strategy, or modular system, it can be patented under The Patents Act, 1970.
Patent Duration: 20 years of exclusive rights to the patented design or process.
5. Contractual Safeguards
Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs): All employees, clients, and collaborators are required to sign NDAs, preventing unauthorized sharing of confidential design information.
Architectural Services Agreement: Every project includes a contract defining intellectual property ownership, design scope, and usage rights.
Licensing Agreements: If a client wishes to reuse or modify an architectural design, a licensing agreement ensures Studio Raja retains ownership while permitting controlled use.
6. Protection Under Professional Bodies & Ethics
The Architects Act, 1972: Ensures the legal protection of the title "Architect" and the firm’s professional standing.
Council of Architecture (COA) Guidelines: Provides legal recourse against plagiarism and unauthorized use of designs.
7. Digital & Online Protection
Watermarking & Digital Copyrights: All digital portfolios, renders, and drawings bear watermarks and digital signatures to prevent unauthorized replication.
Website Copyright & DMCA Protection: Designs displayed on our website are protected under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), enabling legal takedowns of infringing content.
