Event information (for YLC fellows)
YLCセミナーは年３回ほど行われるYLC教員による自身の研究発表の場であり、YLC教員は参加を義務付けられています。聴衆は名古屋大学内の様々な分野の方々を想定しており、毎回数名のYLC教員に発表して頂きます。また司会進行は持ち回りでYLC教員が務めます。
YLC Seminar takes place three times a year, at which several YLC fellows are supposed to give a talk on their own research, and all the YLC fellows are meant to join. Participants are restricted to people from various departments in Nagoya University. The YLC fellows will be a chairperson of this event in turn.
高等研究院では、2016年度より全学の構成員を対象に、本学での最先端研究に触れる機会を得ていただくと同時に透明性の高い研究環境を目指してシンポジウムを開催しています。 シンポジウムは、人文社会系、理工系、生命医学系に分かれており、毎回各分野から最先端の研究などを紹介していただきます。YLC教員は参加を強く推奨されています。
The institute for advanced research at Nagoya University organizes IAR symposium starting from 2016. The symposium aims at sharing the well-matured or cutting-edge researches achieved in Nagoya University with all the members of our university . We set three different fields, human and social science, natural sicence and engineering, and biology and medicine. The YLC fellows are strongly suggested to attend.
YLCサロン/YLC Salon:
YLCサロンは、YLC教員がお話しを聞きたい先生方（日本国内ないし、海外から日本に来ることが決定している先生）にご講演いただき、その後YLC教員や参加者とディスカッションをする場です。YLC教員はディスカッションのファシリテータとしての役割を担います。YLCサロンはYLC教員からの要望により不定期で開催されます。開催したいYLC教員は幹事までご連絡ください。このサロンは一般にも開かれたものにするため、内容は専門に偏りすぎず、分野外の人でもわかりやすい内容のお話しをしていただける先生を選ぶようにしてください。なお、YLC教員は参加を義務付けられています。
YLC Salon is the place where a specific researcher (cf. researchers based in Japan or those coming to Japan) gives a talk in front of the general public as well as affiliated researchers of the IAR. The speaker will be selected by a YLC fellow who will also act as a chair during the session. The speakers are required to give a talk which is not too specialized, so that the audience could understand the talk. YLC Salon will be held irregularly due to demands from the YLC fellows. If you have someone in mind, please contact the persons in charge ("kanji" in Japanese). The YLC fellows are supposed to attend.
名古屋大学の最も重要な学術講義として位置づけ、学外に積極的に公開しています。世界トップレベルの研究者を招聘し、名古屋大学総長がホストとしてレクチャシップを授与します。YLC教員は参加を強く推奨されています。
Nagoya University Lecture (NU Lecture) is the most important academic lecture in the university and publicly available. The highest level researchers are invited and the president awards the lectureship. The YLC fellows are strongly suggested to attend.
Intercontinental Academia (ICA):
ICAはUBIASのメンバーにより企画・運営される国際ワークショップであり、ある決まったトピックに関する世代間、文化間、大陸間の科学交流が行われております。YLC教員の参加が期待されています。
ICA is an international workshop organized by members in UBIAS where ''scientific exchange' between generations, cultures, disciplines, and continents takes place around a topic or theme. The YLC fellows are expected to join.

＊What is UBIAS?
University Based Institute for Advanced Study (大学附置高等研究院連合) の略称で、大学の運営下にある世界の高等研究院のネットワークです。ヨーロッパ20大学、アジア8大学、南北アメリカ6大学、アフリカ・中東アジア・オーストラリアから各1大学が加盟しています。本ネットワークはフェローシップを通した研究交換や国際・学際的ワークショップの開催などを通して世界のトップレベル研究を牽引することを目的としています。名古屋大学高等研究院はUBIAS運営委員としてその中心的役割を果たしています。
UBIAS (University-Based Institute for Advanced Study) is an international network of the institutes for advanced study opperated directly by University. The network consists of 20 universities in Europe, 8 in Asia, 6 in North- and South-America, and 1 from Middle east, Africa and Austraria. It aimed at to have a outstanding studies through fellowship programs and international and interdisciprinary workshops. The IAR, Nagoya plays an central role as a steering committee of the UBIAS.
