At the 2020 Annual General Meeting Virtual Conference, several people expressed the desire to have more frequent guild-wide gatherings as a way to visit with old friends, meet new friends, ring together and advance ringing activity. So, due to the advent of virtual ringing, a committee of three ringers across the United States created, branded, and developed an event series called the Online GatheRing (pun intended). This one-day event, that reoccurs every few months, connects ringers continent-wide, across many towers and towns.
The Online GatheRing, or OGR for short, has opportunities for introductory, intermediate and advanced ringing sessions (from Plain Hunt, to Stedman, to Spliced Methods) as well as space to chat and hang with fellow ringers (and non-ringers). At the same time, we schedule workshops, presentations, games.
We hope this event series will at least partially compensate the various restrictions of physical ringing due to the COVID-19 pandemic and bring our guild together during difficult times.
Check out the NAGCR's YouTube Channel for live presentations at previous OGRs as well as the 2020 virtual Annual General Meeting.
