About me

My research focuses on the computational and neural mechanisms of mental imagery. Using a combination of neuroimaging, psychophysics, machine learning, and computational modeling I try to answer questions such as 'How are mental images generated by the brain?', 'To what extent is this similar to perceiving the external world?', 'How do we keep apart imagination and reality?' and 'What is the function of mental imagery - of simulating sensory signals?'

I am the PI of the Imagine Reality Lab at the Department of Imaging Neuroscience (the FIL) at University College London (currently hiring!). I obtained my PhD in Artificial Intelligence at the Donders Institute in Nijmegen in 2019 after which I moved to London to pursue postdoctoral research with Stephen Fleming and Peter Kok.
