I began woodworking as a hobby, but recently, I've decided to use it as a means to establish a onprofit organization aimed at helping talented students from low-income backgrounds achieve higher education. I have long believed that sustained engagement in sports—particularly competitive sports—is one of the most effective ways to maintain mental sharpness, discipline, and resilience, both in academic and professional life and more broadly in everyday decision-making. Throughout my life, I have actively participated in a wide range of individual and team sports, often at competitive levels.
I began playing chess in the final year of middle school. Within three years, I was ranked as the top chess player in the city of Torbat-e Heydarieh. My achievements include first place (team) and second place (individual) at the combined provincial championships of Khorasan Jonubi, Markazi, and Shomali. I was subsequently invited to represent my province at the national level. However, prior to the national competition, I chose to discontinue competitive chess and transition to swimming during my second year of high school.
I started swimming from scratch shortly before entering my third year of high school. After one month of self-training, I became proficient in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke, which led to selection for both my high school and city teams. I later won gold medals in the 50 m and 100 m breaststroke and 50 m freestyle at city-level high school competitions in Torbat-e Heydarieh, and was selected as the city’s representative swimmer for state competitions.
During my undergraduate studies, I was a member of the Sharif University of Technology swimming team, competing in the 50 m butterfly and 50 m and 100 m freestyle events.
I played table tennis during the first two years of high school and earned a bronze medal (individual) at the city-wide high school championships. After completing my PhD, I resumed competitive play during my postdoctoral period and placed second at the LATTA competition (El Monte, California, 2022).
I served as captain of the Iranian intramural volleyball team at the University of California, Riverside during my PhD.
Indoor Soccer: Captain of the Iranian intramural team at UC Riverside during my PhD
Outdoor Soccer: Captain of the Iranian intramural team at UC Riverside during my PhD
