God Provides
How does each sermon connect to this theme?
In May, we entered the new era of the church. However, then as now, believers do not live free from challenges, pain, and heartbreak, whether we bring it on ourselves or even when it is beyond our control. Yet, even in the midst of these difficult circumstances, God provides. This month, we will come to experience how God continually enters into our struggles, administers to us and supplies for our needs.
June 7: Perhaps like the disciples, our joy is misplaced in what we accomplish or experience. Yet, we will see that God provides true joy in misunderstanding, when we allow Him to redirect us.
June 14: This sermon takes us to the time of the Jewish people rebuilding Jerusalem after exile. When they receive and understand God’s commands, holy days, and provision, God provides strength in desolation. His joy, not their circumstances, becomes an enduring source of strength.
June 21: Jesus Christ has opened a new and living way into God’s presence through His sacrifice, as our faithful High Priest. We can draw near with confident faith, knowing that God provides hope in discouragement, through past faithfulness and present encouragement embedded in our community of faith as we await His promised return.
June 28: Living as strangers in this world, Jeremiah reminds us that as we patiently endure, living as a blessing, and trusting in His faithful promises, God provides peace in displacement and guides us toward our promised and hoped for future filled with His peace.
June midweek: Through the unchanging cornerstone of Jesus Christ, God provides security in instability anchored in Christ’s gospel, love, grace, authority, and promises.
God is working in our lives! May this truth guide us through this month. I look forward to gathering with our family in Christ at the Together Conference in Columbus, OH at the end of the month.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. ~ Galatians 6: 9–10

Our next Service for the departed will be conducted on Sunday, 5 July
Here's a few resources to help us prepare for this special day:
Touching and in need of explanation
Divine services for the departed are a moving experience for many. But why do they exist and how do they work? A module on nac.academy provides some insight.
Help for the departed: History - video discussion
Before a divine service for the departed, the hereafter seems to be especially near. Yet, what can we say offhand about this other world? Here are some answers from the Bible and the Catechism.
Advocating and interceding for someone is a true act of friendship! There is a story of four people who did just that and enabled a sick person to be healed through their own faith.
The sacraments: For the departed under the hands of the Apostles
Can the departed receive salvation too? The question is as old as Christianity itself. The answer of the New Apostolic Church is not even all that new—and nevertheless, it is unusual. Here is the story of how the sacraments for the departed came to be dispensed.
Being a help to the dead is an expression of God's will
In all churches there are memorial ceremonies and services—defined to a greater or lesser extent—for loved ones who have passed away. Some Orthodox denominations celebrate with bread and cake at the grave. Other churches celebrate services of remembrance. The New Apostolic Church celebrates divine services for the departed three times each year.

Sacraments can also be of help to the departed.
This is not only professed by the New Apostolic faith, but is also taught in the Catholic Church and in Orthodox Christianity. Following is a look at the bigger picture.

"When we make the effort to make the return of Christ more existent, more concrete in our lives, a greater hope is awakened in us, and a source of comfort is unleashed. This will have a major effect on our souls if done properly: we will experience godly peace and joy in the assurance that nothing can delay His coming or prevent the plan of salvation from being completed."
