Ummah ("we", "our", or "us") provides a high-precision spiritual companion app for Muslims. This policy discloses our data practices to ensure transparency and compliance with Google Play Developer Policies.
Ummah requires access to your device’s Precise and Approximate Location.
Purpose: This is essential for calculating accurate daily prayer timings and determining the Qibla (Kaaba) direction for your specific coordinates.
Privacy: This data is processed locally on your device. We do not transmit your location to our servers, nor do we share it with 3rd parties.
To provide its core religious features, Ummah utilizes the following sensitive permissions:
Foreground Service (mediaPlayback): Used to play the Azaan (Call to Prayer) audio reliably, even when the app is in the background or the screen is off.
Exact Alarms (USE_EXACT_ALARM): Used to trigger prayer notifications at the exact astronomical time. Precision is mandatory for religious compliance.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used to send prayer time reminders and Azaan alerts.
Boot Completion: Reschedules your daily prayer alarms automatically after a device reboot.
We use Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) to identify technical bugs and improve app stability. These tools collect anonymized hardware data and crash logs. No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected or sold.
We do not sell, rent, or trade user data. All data used for app features (like Location or Prayer Preferences) remains stored locally on your device.
Ummah does not require user accounts. To "delete" all your data:
Simply uninstall the app from your device. This will remove all local preferences and cached data.
