Mythage is more inspired from the world of Toril, (loosely speaking, it's a good fall back for location/style designs) a world in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting from Dungeons & Dragons. Obviously, lore is open to interpretation and you can easily pick and choose. However, if you want to make a mercenary that came from Baldur's Gate.. it won't be too far fetched. While the region of King's Gate is entirely fictional and homebrewed by the D&D standards, this decision was to help with player consistency and give more substance and identity within a very magical and medieval world.
Events of the past depicting drastic topographical and societal changes within Mythage. The most notable event is known as "The Fracture" , which divides the world in 2 eras, Before Fracture, and After Fracture, and caused the world to be of this fantastic thematic. Today is 2309 A.F. (After Fracture)
Also known as "The Corridor" is the realm where raw energy emerges from, and from which all realms are connected in one way or another. The Aether, at the same time, is house to many domains of astral entities and deities, but also monsters preying on souls of foolish explorers. It is an impossibly dangerous realm to traverse, as most expeditions have either failed or never returned. It is known to be the realm where all magic is drawn from, and the realm that powers all that lives.
