The Myth Hot 100 is a comprehensive chart, ranking the most popular myths of a given week based on followers, place visits, and group member data from the Roblox website. The tracking period for these metrics is Saturday to Friday, with new charts being compiled and released every Saturday. The main purpose of the chart is to reflect the popularity of myths at a given time and to track trends within the community. The methodology currently gives place visits more weight as that is a major form of supporting myths.Â
Since followers, place visits, and group members aren't equal, each metric collected every week is divided by a certain number. The quotient of these divisions is referred to as "chart points." The myth with the most points in a week earns the #1 placement on the chart.
The tracking week for followers, place visits, and group members begins on Saturday and ends on Friday. A new chart is released eight days later. For example:
Saturday, January 1 - tracking week begins for followers, place visits, and group members
Friday, January 7 - tracking week ends for followers, place visits, and group members
Saturday, January 16 - new chart is released, with the issue post-dated Saturday, January 16
When a myth spontaneously gains in popularity (either through admission into a well-known group or a video documenting them) the MCWC will record their statistics when it was first noticed. Their stat gains after they were first noticed and before the tracking week ends will determine whether or not the myth will have enough points to debut into the chart. Myths not recognized by the Myth Community Wiki or their affiliated groups will not be able to chart.
Some myths will take down their games to develop/review them. This causes their total place visits to suddenly drop. When a myth re-releases their game, their place visits will sharply increase due to the place visits of the removed game being added to the myth's total place visit count again. This isn't an accurate reflection of the myth's popularity, so the MCW Charts will track a re-released game's place visits gained after the re-release of said game, combined with their other place visit gains.
If a myth decides to abandon their Roblox account to continue their myth on a new account, their new account will be tracked instead of their old account. The rule is applied to abandoned/locked groups. (Example: The Cult Family/Cult Family Rebirth)
If a myth decides to leave up their myth account but continue their myth on a new account, depending on how different the new account is, both accounts will either be counted together or separately. The rule is applied to Roblox groups. (Example: The Blackgolden Family/Child of Astrion)
If a myth decides to reinvent their account to make a new myth, they'll still be tracked as if no change happened. (Example: lmmanuaI)
Terminated myths will still be tracked.
Retired myths that are still somewhat involved in the myth community will be tracked. (Example: Stephen_Archer)
Retired myths that no longer have involvement in the myth community will not be tracked. (Example: .+Voidkin Daycare+.)
Users who are debated to be a myth will still be tracked. (Example: RUST_010)
Myth-inspired users may or may not be tracked, depending on their involvement/impact in the myth community. (Example: Sigil)
These cases will be determined by the MCWC staff and exceptions may happen.
The Myth Hot 100 chart year starts on the first week of December and ends on the last week of November. This is so that MCWC can calculate the "Year-End" chart and release it before the end of the year. The Year-End chart is calculated by the number of chart points a myth earned in a chart year.
