Primary school kraljice Jelene is situated in a small town Solin, near the second largest Croatian city- Split. Solin is a town with the youngest population in Croatia and number of its citizens is growing because it provides great social and cultural environment for young families and their children. It is also a town with rich cultural and historical heritage. Ancient Salona is a significant archeological site over 2000 years old and it is closely related to the history of the city of Split and its founder emperor Diocletian. Solin has also got a beautiful river Jadro as one of the most important features of the town.

Due to its location and organization, Solin has got three primary schools, the youngest of which is primary school KraljiceJelene, founded 10 years ago. There are two separate schools in the district that belong to school kraljiceJelene, Kučine and Mravince, which are attended by students aging 7 – 10. Our school has over 900 students ranging from age 6/7 to 14/15 and over 80 permanent teachers, administrators and cleaning staff.

Student and teachers participate in numerous activities and projects. They have successfully cooperated on projects such as: Unicef- stop the violence amongst children( since 2008), Eco school (since 2011), My beautiful homeland (since 2013), Let’s do it – World clean-up 2015., E-Twinning (2013), Stone storyteller (since 2015), Let’s eat responsibly (since 2016), Little Curators (2016) and Lose your mobile, not your childhood. From the very beginning of the school, our teachers, students and their parents have taken part in humanitarian work some of which is: St. Nicholas’ boot, A thousand joys action, Fifty parcels for fifty users, Social supermarket and Solidarity in act.

Students have been participants in various competitions which is evidenced through numerous academic honors and recognitions. Every year, our school is the host of international maths competition Klokan bez granica (International mathematical kangaroo)for younger students (aged 7-10). Our students successfully participate in a town competition LiDraNo every year.

School newspapers Solinčica in which you can find many interesting works of our students and teachers have been published since 2008.

Even though we do not have much experience in European projects, we are a team of highly motivated and ambitious teachers who cherish the European values and recognize the importance of mobility and intercultural tolerance.
