Zbirka glasbil
The collection of instruments at the Pokrajinski muzej Ptuj - Ormož
The collection of instruments in the Castle of Ptuj is of national importance. It is the only one of its kind in Slovenia. It includes around 300 instruments for playing art and folk music.
One of the most precious items of the collections is the Roman tibia from the 2nd or 3rd century, which was found in Ptuj.
The collection comprises from instruments played in the town’s marching band, as well as wind, string and keyboard instruments.
We spent the first field trip at our castle, where we got to see some of the most amazing instruments! Not all of them were found in our area, but are still very interesting to look at and play.
Instruments that were and still are played in our area are:
Our second educational field trip was carried out on 26th February, on one of the coldest winter days!

We took a closer look at seals.
The seal is older than writing. Already used in ancient cultures as means of identification or as means for closing - sealing
There are four important seals in the history of Ptuj - from 1273,1452,1538 and 1577.
The picture on all four seals is the one of the town’s patron, St. George.
On the first seal, dated back to 1273, St. George is represented a a young knight, killing a dragon with a spear.

On the second seal St. George is represented as a mature man standing on the dragon.
The second seal is also called the secret seal.
On the third seal St. George is portrayed from the waist up and the spear is replaced with a sword.
The fourth seal is similar to the third one - St. George is portrayed with a sword in one hand, attempting to slay the dragon.
