I recently thought of upgrading mysql in my system for a project when I found two parallelly available downloads for windows in mysql site. I cannot figure out the difference between mysql community and mysql installer.

Both will install into same final setup. the web-community is online installer, you need to download to connect to the online server and installations files come from online while the community installer is an offline installer with full features. web-installer (online, need internet connection to complete the installation), community-installer(offline, full).

The only difference is that MSI installer come with all mysql products (mysql server, mysql workbeanch, plugins, etc) and you have a wizar that guide you through install and it's check dependencys . That is the only diference i found using the MSI installer and the comunity edition.

ok. So finally this is how I resolved my issue. And I found the solution at =82004 . The solution to this problem is to close an open "Windows installer" (the one using 0 memory and CPU) via task manager and the installation should begin running as expected.

For me on Window-10 machine, there was a problem with the "mysql-connector-net-8.0.11.msi". I was not able to uninstall this and hence all my subsequent efforts to install MySQL were failing. I did the following to overcome this issue.

The reson is your antivirus didn't allow the mysql, so Disable protection(until restart),( in your task bar right side click the arrow and right click to antivirus,to select (Disable protection(until restart)).then restart your computer again install mysql installer it will work.

In my case, an upgrade to 5.7.29 on Windows 10 via mysql-installer-web-community-8.0.20.0.msi, the install froze "backing up the database". The log tab showed no activity for 8 minutes. I clicked on cancel, then at the "are you sure" prompt I declined to cancel, and all of a sudden the install was working again. Very strange...

You should run the installer as an administrator but this specific installation may not provide an option for this. Some might have it but it's most likely that it's unavailable for many users. So you should run it in cmd or powershell. And don't forget to run these shells as an administrator coz that's the whole point here. Once there, navigate to the installer's location which usually is in the downloads directory and run it using this command ./name.msiMake sure no other ongoing installation of this instance. Close it if there exists one and undo the changes made by uninstalling it from the panel. If still facing difficulties, try restarting your machine and repeat this procedure...

I encountered the same issue of taking too much time to install mysql community installer.I tried 3 times by cancelling the installation and restarting to perform a new installation. But had same issue. I tried 2 things

I am trying to install MySQL 8.0.23 version from the download page. I ran the .msi file several times and every time, I got the error "mysql installer did not find packages in the current bundle suitable for installation windows". I tried to find a solution online for more than an hour and I could not get the resolution to problem. I even ran it through CMD using admin privileges and still no use. I am installing on a laptop with the following configuration.

Delete the (mysql-installer-web-community-8.0.23.0.msi) one and download the (mysql-installer-community-8.0.23.0.msi) one. If still not working, right click uninstall, and then right click install again. Worked for me.

I used the bigger download package, mysql-installer-community-8.0.30.0 with 450M. Then I see below image along the way, clicking "Add", then picked the workbench, then green button appeared to move to the right pane, then "execute". Workbench is then installed

I have to install MySQL Server Community Edition version 5.6.x with silent installation. I planned to use mysql-installer-community-5.6.26.0.msi with msiexec /i /quiet command and run MySQLInstallerConsole.exe to install and configure the server silently.

I found a problem about MySQL installer while installing, it's always running in Commercial mode after installation. I tried to reinstall it again in many times via the same procedure but the results are not different.

My recommendation is that you will probably want to run the .sql script that creates/initialises the database if it doesn't exist from within your application - this will allow you to do more error checking and inform the user if something didn't go correctly. You could also run your MySQL installer using System Exec from within your application as well.

You can download the MySQL community server from this location. Once the installer has been downloaded, double-click the setup file to start the installation process. On the Choosing a Setup Type page, you can see four installation options.

If you have chosen to install all the components of MySQL Server (Full Setup Type), MySQL installer moves to Sample and Example screen. On this screen, provide username and password of the user that has root/sysadmin privileges and click on Check. If the connection establishes successfully, click on next. See the following image:

The installer continues to the Product Configuration screen. On this screen, you can see that the installation of the MySQL Server 8.0.19 and Sample and Example 8.0.19 has been completed successfully. See the following image:

I have downloaded the mysql-installer-web-community-8.0.23.0, but when I go through the installation process, no products show up on the "select products" section. There's nothing wrong with my internet, and there doesn't seem to be anyone else having this problem. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Does anyone know why this might be happening and how to fix this?

Yes, I also faced the same issue. I've also tried offline-version of the installer and could not download mysql. So far I've spent half the day trying to find other means of installing it and I've just figured it out.

In Ubuntu systems running MySQL 5.7 (and later versions), the root MySQL user is set to authenticate using the auth_socket plugin by default rather than with a password. This plugin requires that the name of the operating system user that invokes the MySQL client matches the name of the MySQL user specified in the command, so you must invoke mysql with sudo privileges to gain access to the root MySQL user:

i think now you have an assurance that wamp server is installed by seeing that icon, start getting familiar how to use it, how to connect to the openmrs instance to capture the databases and all other related stuff. Another problem that you may be aware of is connections to mysql server to the sdk. sometimes when your mysql server is not running, you may encounter server issues.

But its always good to first google around , and unless things fail , then you come for help in the community , otherwise Mr Google is much more knowledgeable that any single individual on the planet

For starters, go to the download MySQL Installer page. As you see, there are two options suggested for download: a web community version and a full version. The main difference between these two is that the web package only includes MySQL Installer and configuration files, and it requires an Internet connection to proceed with the installation. Within the web version, you can select the applications you want to download apart from MySQL Server. As for the full package, it includes all MySQL products for Windows (MySQL Server inclusive) and is suitable if you intend to install MySQL offline.

So, when your MySQL server is set up, try to connect to it, either using the command line tool mysql or the MySQL Workbench or a similar tool. You can then proceed with the Confluence specific installation in

I have installed the phpmyadmin app but it is useless without the mysql DB.

Below command apt-get does not work on busybox, any solution would be greatly appreciated.

Called technical support and they are of no help, the technical guy had no knowledge of the product.

apt-get update (not upgrade, NEVER)

apt-get -f install mysql-server

(-f stands for fixing)

mysql -uroot -p (-u is for user and -p is for password)

Then try accessing the MySQL prompt again. If you still receive the socket error, double check the location where your MySQL installation is looking for the socket file. This information can be found in the mysqld.cnf file:

We install MySQL community edition for Windows silently with msiexec /i /qn command and extract manifest file and run MySQLInstallerConsole application with required parameters to install and configure mysql server silently.

After picking MySQL 5.6.23 community installer and installing mysql 5.6.23 msi installer silently, mysqlinstallerconsole application is asking for oracle account and won't get installed until user provides oracle support details. Also, we have noticed that mysqlconsoleinstaller runs in commercial mode even though installed from community installation.

MySQL Tuner is a Perl script that connects to a running MySQL instance and offers configuration suggestions for optimising the database for your workload. The longer the server has been running, the better the advice mysqltuner can provide. In a production environment, consider waiting for at least 24 hours before running the tool. You can install mysqltuner from the Ubuntu repositories: ff782bc1db
