An OU vs. TX Friendship

Prologue:
Jade was born in November of 1998 to her parents Kelly and Shaun Steele. She was the first of two children. Today she is twenty years old living deep in the heart of Texas.
In October of 1999, Kelly and Darren Müller welcomed their second daughter, Hailey, into the world. Hailey is now nineteen years old, and she is attending college.
Jade and Hailey's parents connected them, in particular their mothers. Kelly and Kelly had met each other when they were in college, at the Grayson County Community College in Texas. Weird enough, they happened to have the same name and the same goal of becoming a registered nurse. They became best friends. They did everything together. They eventually graduated from college, but that did not keep them apart. They both got careers at the same establishment. They moved from their small, country town to a bigger city in Texas together. Then they had their daughters eleven months apart, so it was only natural for Jade and Hailey to be best friends.
An OU vs TX Friendship:
It was a nice October day; Kelly had just given birth to Hailey. The nurses and doctor cleaned up baby Hailey and got Kelly all situated. It was the moment everyone had been waiting for; Jade was finally about to meet her best friend forever. Jade's mom went to the waiting room to get baby Jade. Jade waddled behind everyone, not really comprehending what was about to happen. Jade's mom opened the door to Kelly's room and gave Jade the okay to toddle right on in. Once Jade saw her Aunt Kelly there was no apprehension; she ran straight to her bed side to see what was up. Jade wiggled her way up onto the bed and saw the new baby. Kelly and Kelly were showing Jade baby Hailey, and in the moment Jade and Hailey's eyes met everyone knew these two were meant to be the best of friends for as long as they lived.
The girls were best friends since day one of Hailey's existence on Earth. To many people's surprise Kelly and Kelly did not even have to force Jade and Hailey to be besties. The girls were raised together. They were inseparable. Hailey was constantly at Jade's house. For some reason they preferred Kelly and Shaun's house over Hailey's parents' house. They were in dance classes together. They took gymnastics classes together. They started doing tumbling and cheer together. They were two best friends having the time of their lives. However, the girls were not in the same grade.
When Jade went into sixth grade, the girls started to drift apart a decent amount. They did not ride to school together anymore because Jade went to a new school. They did not get to go home from school together either. This caused the girls to have to make new friends because they did not have each other at school anymore. Finally the girls' friendship returned to normal when the girls were both in middle school, and they were cheering together again. Then again they fell into the old cycle of being in different grades and at different schools when Jade became a freshman in high school.
When Hailey became a freshman in high school, things still did not go back to normal. Hailey had grown into a shy, get-stuff-done type of girl, and Jade had become an outgoing, social but still determined girl. The two girls were clashing in personality left and right. Even though the girls seemed to be getting along not so great they still loved each other. However, the end was near for their friendship.
In Jade's junior year of high school, she had decided she was going to attend the University of Texas, but it was a bad decision for her because Hailey was a die-hard OU fan and had already made her plans to become a Sooner. This was the end of their relationship as they and everyone else around them knew it. The girls were already falling apart, and then they added the Red River Rivalry to their list of disagreements. Jade and Hailey were too competitive to let their school rivalry settle and become civil again. They were now enemies and rightfully so. The Red River Rivalry is something that has kept them apart for years, and that will not ever change as long as the rivalry lives on.
The last time Jade and Hailey saw each other was at the Big XII Football Championships. The girls tried to avoid each other at all costs. However, since both of their mothers were attending the game it was impossible. The girls and their mothers eventually met up after the game, and the meeting did not go well. Hailey was taunting Jade over the OU victory, and Jade was not having it. The girls threw around some choice words, but their mothers separated them before they started throwing punches.
Author's Note:
This story was based off of the original story Drona. The original story was the introduction of Drona. The story explained his birth, childhood, and adulthood. In Drona's past he had a very close childhood friend, Drupada. However, throughout their years the two boys who were practically brothers turned out to be deathly enemies by the end of the short story.
I only really kept a small sliver of the plot. I kept the plot of two best friends becoming enemies. I changed the characters, I added a prologue, I put it in modern-day scenario and language and wrote it only in third person because that was the writing style I choose for this story. I changed the characters of Drona and Drupada because I was not putting the original story in my own words and wanted to create my own story. I added the prologue to give context to the background of the characters, and a significance to the girls' friendship. I also want to say, this story is partially based off of real events in my life, but the whole story is not based off of events that have taken place in my life. This is the second published edition of this story. I did change the ending of the story in this edition to make the story have more of a grand finale.
