We have technology that rocks. I can use books to help me program and I love using the Ozobots. Sphero, and iPads in my Learning Commons. Lori B. Teacher Sam Sherratt
Our school library is the most welcoming place in the building. Students visit to relax or to find a quiet place to complete school work. Our librarians host too many contests to count and decorate the space to celebrate each event. Most Actonites name our library as their favourite place in the building, myself included! Nick K. Our librarian is involved heavily with new Gr. 9s. She makes it a priority to ensure they feel welcome right at the beginning of the year. In addition, she has several contests happening to get students reading and involved in the library community. I think our library rocks because there are many different seating areas like a white board table, chairs that move and spin, a exercise bike with a table on top. Also we have fun maker spaces like cards and speed stacking. Furthermore, our library has many different types of books in French, English and many Non-Fiction books for any project you might have, Lastly, it's a clean and safe environment to work. The library is an overall inviting and amazing atmosphere. Everyone in the school is welcome to sit and work. There is a quiet room for those who need an extra quiet space, and we are allowed to eat in library! Our librarian works super hard to make contests for the students, and makes movie trips. Our library team has created a space for students to be safe and to attend to their studies. We have a "quiet" room where students can decompress and read or listen to music. Our library team welcomes students to be responsible by letting them eat food and clean after themselves. Students can gather to play games like chess or checkers or colour elaborate patterns as part of our wellness centres. There is always a contest going on where students can win fun prize packs donated from local businesses. Once a year, we promote a read-a-thon and winners get to go to a private screening of a new release movie. Our library is truly an amazing place that ROCKS! Melissa F. It's alright, pretty comfortable to be in, good selection of books, and free chrome books to borrow for any use. There so many different coding apps and websites to choose from. Most of the websites and apps are for all different ages even the robots and games too. Our school library rocks because we have sports magazines about the sports I like a lot and we have my favourite book series wings of fire. we also have lots of technology is very nice because we have chrome books, computers, dash robots, ozobots and sphero that are lots of fun. Another thing is that we have bean bags to read on and they are very very comfortable, also we have puzzles that we used to be able to use but now there only for grade 1/2. I think our school library rocks because we have a pretty small school but we still have many great things about our school, that lots of other schools don't have. my favourite part about the library is, wait for it, the books! I love reading so lots of books is awesome! There are lots of new book series that I had never herd of that are here at Paul A. Fisher, but I really like. I have learned a lot and expanded my knowledge about different countries and cultures. Another thing that is great about our library is that we have loads of technology. We have a wealth of books, resources and most importantly, a full time passionate educator available in our "Learning Commons" every day. Students love to discover new books, explore Maker Spaces, and other learning provocations. Teachers can collaborate with, co-learn, and co-teach with our full-time teacher librarian. We are lucky that our school population allows us this opportunity, but it should be available to ALL publicly-funded schools in Ontario. My school library is great because there are a lot of books and resources that students can easily access, as well as there are also Chromebook and computers for students to use during school time for research and projects, or even borrow Chromebook to take home if necessary. My school library rocks because of the amazing and modern books we have stored. Even in a secondary school the library is that one stand-out that brings a positive impact on students. Because of the variety of novels my school library has stored it allows me to wide range of options from books. Although today's generations students are hyped away from the entertainment of technology, it's advanced features. The school library brings in a quiet and memorable experience for students in high school. Because of the school library in my school I was able to meet more people from my school who now I am best friends, including my school librarian. Who is an amazing person bringing the positivity and encouragement to read books and establish a better understanding in the world of fantasy. Our library is the place to be! It is a place where students can come when they need to problem solve, journey through inquiry, chat about weekly 'thinking question challenges', play games, collaborate in small think tanks, create awesome multimedia works, chill and read and de-stress. The space is used for so many reasons and students feel welcome and safe. Students are free to use this space independently, in small groups and as a whole class. Staff come to read and work. Our school library is the best because not only is it full of amazing books but it is also full of devices that enhance the learning of students like me. Our library also holds discovery clubs where kids can come and learn new things like learning how to code robots like Sphero or EV3. Also, our amazing librarian works hard year round to host events like book fairs where we can buy books or the graphic novel showdown and contests like the spelling bee and the public speaking challenge. Our library also has comfortable places to sit and read. For example, the bean bag chairs the couches or the rolling chairs.
