Educational Activity around our developed sensors awareness kit “MYOSA”
IEEE Sensors Council
Welcome to the IEEE International MYOSA Event!
What is the aim of this competition?
It aims to excite submissions of innovative ideas, followed by live demonstrations of working prototypes in the flagship conferences of the IEEE Sensors Council. Some of the examples of the project proposals are given below:
Automated lighting system of a smart housing
Diagnostic applications based on a gesture sensor
Automated irrigation for smart agriculture
Who can participate?
Undergrad and postgraduate students: < 8 years of starting their higher university education/ bachelor's degree. (Team of 2-4 students)
What constitutes a team?
A team should contain no more than 4 students, preferably from the same institute or college. A faculty mentor from the same university/college is mandatory.
How to participate?
Expression of Interest (EOI) and Ideation Phase: A team must submit a proposal before the mentioned deadline. The proposal must contain the following,
A. A statement expressing your interest in entering the contest. (Max. 200 words)
B. Details of team members. (Name, Grade or Academic Year, School/Institute Name, Address, Email, Contact No.)
C. Details of a faculty mentor in your reply. (Name, School/Institute Name, Address, Email, Contact No.)
Ideation Details:
How MYOSA board will be used in the project? Know more about MYOSA
Which sensors or actuators will be used? You will get the MYOSA Mini IoT kit for this project. You can explore the kit and its components here: MYOSA Mini Kit.
What additional circuit and/or software will be created around the MYOSA board to make your application work?
Highlight the significance of the specific application that the team is aiming to address (100 words)
The intended use of the MYOSA platform and how the proposed project exploits its potential
The demo that is intended to be performed at the selected conference venue
Document length: Not exceeding 4 pages (A4 size, 11 pt, arial/Calibri font, single line spacing, single column).
Each team can submit ONLY ONE project.
NO REGISTRATION FEE.
Important Dates:
Call Opens: June 7, 2025.
Last Date of EOI and Ideation Proposal Submission: June 30, 2025. July 10, 2025
After the eligibility check, all teams will receive a decision to go to the next round of the contest. The contest has three phases (a) Ideation Phase, (b) Acceptance Phase, (c) Development Phase, and (d) Demonstration Phase.
(a) Ideation Phase: All interested teams must submit the idea of the proposal that the team intends to develop explaining the following:
§ How MYOSA board will be used in the project?
§ Which sensors or actuators will be used? ou will get the MYOSA Mini IoT kit for this project. You can explore the kit and its components here: MYOSA Mini Kit.
§ What additional circuit and/or software will be created around the MYOSA board to make your application work?
Document length: Not exceeding 4 pages (A4 size, 11 pt, arial/Calibri font, single line spacing, single column).
(b) Acceptance Phase: A team of international reviewers will review the submission to shortlist the submissions based on their technical merit and uniqueness in exploiting the MYOSA platform. A maximum of 10 proposals will be selected and informed if found suitable. The committee may consider more proposals if found promising.
(c) Development Phase: Selected teams will be sent the MYOSA motherboard along with the sensor boards that are planned to be used in the proposed application. Participating members of the selected teams will develop their proposed applications in their respective institute’s Lab. The teams need to submit a recorded presentation (max. 5 minutes) and a demonstration video (max. 3 minutes) for evaluation.
A committee of experts will evaluate the submission based on execution, clarity, presentation, and desired outcome. A maximum of the top 5 teams will be selected for the next phase. The committee may consider more proposals if found promising.
(d) Demonstration Phase: The selected teams will be invited to demonstrate their developed applications live at the upcoming IEEE Conference 2025, a flagship conference of the IEEE Sensors Council.
If you are selected, images, videos of your project and your team members may be published in social media handles and/or websites of MYOSA, IEEE Sensors Council.
All decisions by the Committee shall be made in the Committee's sole discretion and shall be final.
Call Opens: June 7, 2025.
(a) Ideation Phase:
